Alec L. Critten This EP is really special. The approach to songwriting and style transcends an individual genre, spanning contemporary classical, alternative folk, choral vocal arrangements, and drone in the ethereal "Kamaji II". In any case, the songs here provide precious moments that are disarmingly intimate and fleetingly beautiful. One moment it hovers around the listener, and the next it is gone - only echoes and wind chimes in the distance. Excellent. Favorite track: Kamaji II.

less than a year ago, Richmond VA-based Ian Mugerwa (aka ot to, not to) released his debut album 'Goshen' via Nicolas Jaar's Other People imprint. now, his experimental take on r&b/folk/ambient music continues to develop on 'These Movements I & II', his first double EP. this is intimate, personal music, and while the instrumentation and the techniques that Mugerwa employs are experimental, the musical ideas themselves are very accessible, almost pop. this is a stunning, mature collection of songs by the 21-year-old, and a real step into the unknown for ACR.
